There are times in life when you simply feel that something needs to change.
January this year was not quite the month I had hoped for, and I felt a quiet need to step away from my usual routine, see life from a different perspective and give myself some space to think. Have you ever done that? Taken a break to reflect on your purpose in life or perhaps rethink what you want next?
On that note, I decided to return to Europe, slow down, and experience the art and history again as a solo traveller. It was more than a holiday for me — walking without rushing, noticing the colours, people, places and food around me, and making time for creativity, reflection and simply being.
Most evenings, I would sit with my notepad and my thoughts, reflecting on where life had brought me and what I wanted the next chapter to look like.
There was something very powerful about having that space to pause and reconnect.
And perhaps what stayed with me most was the reminder that sometimes solitude can be bliss. A little space to think, breathe and reconnect with ourselves.
I came home feeling grateful for the opportunity to bring people together through culture, creativity and celebration, something I have always loved doing. With Diwali, the Heritage Festival, the East Auckland Cultural Festival, and our classes and workshops now underway or just around the corner, I’m excited to share all that vibrancy and creativity with you in the months ahead.
We can bring Diwali to you, or host you at one of our venues — complete with art, celebration, and delicious Indian bites.
