In my view, Taiura is the best place in the Coromandel. Not just for painting subjects, but there are a few other attractions for me. They have the perfect spot for those swings in front of the beach area, so I do not miss the chance to swing when I visit. The water always looks sparkling and transparent. In the cafe, they have great wedges served with sour cream, perfect to enjoy with that calming view. They have a lovely art gallery and gorgeous views from different corners. Such an inspirational place for me.

It is a long story about this painting. In 2012, my arty friend and I went for an art retreat in Tairua. When we were turning the corner, I saw this view and fell in love. I painted this painting a few times, and one day an artist said to me, ‘Recreate these paintings with Anju’s touch… the way you are bright and cheerful, express that in your art.’ So here is my expression with those purples and pinks that bring the glamour of Bollywood, the warmth of my Indian heart and the affection I have for the New Zealand landscape.

Love those greens in Coromandel; however, few colours can make it look like a fairyland.
